If you’re looking for an educational or informative blog post on the best ways to use this book, then you’ve come to the right place! Nurul Burhan's "Kitab Manaqib" is a manuscript in Arabic in which he attempted to collect anecdotes about the Prophet Muhammad. The text was originally penned during his years in Egypt, when he was 63. It is narrated anecdotally and it contains both true stories and personal speculations. The author has included various versions of these tales to cater to different audiences; some versions are more appropriate for children while others are more straightforwardly instructional. The author's intention is to educate his readers about Muhammad's life and character, and the book covers a wide range of topics in this regard. Topics include: 1. Description of the Prophet's physical appearance and character 2. His marriage, family life, children, etc. 3. The history of Umayyad caliphs and other rulers that ruled before Islam was revealed 4. Moral conduct ("adl") 5. Religious codes ("sharia"); Islamic law ("fiqh") 6. The Prophet's miracles ("karamat") 7. His asceticism/virtues 8. Signs of the Day of Judgement 9. The Prophet's death and the sacredness of his body 10. The Prophet's knowledge The book was originally written in Arabic, but today there are various translations into other languages available online. It is usually included in with collections of scholastic texts, with the word 'Manaqib' being translated as 'Life'. However, Nurul Burhan himself titled his work "Kitab al-Manaqib" or 'Book on Merits'; thus it is more accurately referred to as a collection of 'merits/virtues'.
